About J Gold

Born in Amsterdam, J Gold discovered his passion for photography at an early age. Working in a one-hour photo lab, he learned the art of film development, mastering the delicate balance of light, shadow, and composition. From analog photography to the digital revolution, his fascination with capturing the world only grew stronger.

Driven by curiosity, he set off on a journey that took him across continents. In Australia and New Zealand, he experienced the freedom of travel and the beauty of both urban landscapes and untouched nature. With only a small digital camera, he documented his travels, creating a visual diary of freedom, discovery, and wonder.

His dedication to photography led him to refine his craft through formal education at the Fotovakschool before relocating to Australia, where he worked as a photographer. Inspired by the striking contrasts of Melbourne—Victorian architecture standing alongside towering skyscrapers, hidden alleyways covered in graffiti—he immersed himself in the city's dynamic energy, seeking beauty in the unexpected.

His journey continued through the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand, from the glowing caves of Waitomo to the serene beauty of Hanmer Springs, each place shaping his artistic vision. After New Zealand he moved back to Melbourne where eventually he returned to The Netherlands, bringing with him a distinct style influenced by years of exploration.

J Gold’s photography is a fusion of bold monochrome contrasts and expressive bursts of colour, designed to evoke emotion and spark imagination. in recent years he travelled to various countries. Schotland, France, Denmark, Portugal, Indonesia and many more inspiring destinations. What began as a personal collection of captured moments has evolved into a gallery of visual storytelling—now ready to be shared with the world.
